1.    Utsav Mitra appointed OSD to Power Minister Piyush Goyal
  • » Utsav Mitra, a non-government official, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Power Minister Piyush Goyal.
  • »   Mitra has been appointed on a contract basis for five years or till the tenure of the Minister, according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
  • »   As per rules, a clearance from Intelligence Bureau (IB) is mandatory for appointment of a private person as OSD to a Minister. Ministry of Finance also needs to give its permission to create a post of OSD for such persons.

2.    India must decide its role in global trade order: Kerry
  • »   As India has taken a tough stand at WTO, US Secretary of State John Kerry has said New Delhi must decide its role in global trade order.
  • »   Ahead of his official visit to India, Kerry said: "As we work with our trading partners around the world to advance trade and investment liberalisation, India must decide where it fits in the global trading system.”

3.      Govt to use space technology to monitor MNREGA
  • »   Seeking to improve value addition in MNREGA, Rural Development Minister Nitin Gadkari today said government proposes to modify the scheme and use space technology to check pilferages and corruption.
  • »   Replying to a discussion on Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employement Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) in the Lok Sabha, the Minister said he proposes to change the material-wage ratio of the scheme from 60:40 to 49:51 with a view to encouraging value addition.

4.     Pati appointed new Odisha Chief Secretary
  • »   Odisha government today appointed senior IAS officer Gokul Chandra Pati as the new chief secretary and posted home secretary Vivin Kumar Saxena as special resident commissioner in New Delhi, an official notification said.
  • »   Pati, a 1978 batch IAS officer on central deputation since 2006, had been allowed by the union government to return to his state cadre on July 28. He was secretary, defence production in the ministry of defence.
  • »   He will replace 1979 batch IAS officer J K Mohapatra who has been posted as the secretary of fertilizer in the ministry of chemicals and fertilizer. Mohapatra had demitted office on July 25 to take up his central posting.
  • »  Home department will remain as additional charge of additional chief secretary (finance) Upendra Nath Behera. He will be in dual charges of home and finance departments.

5. Navtej Singh Sarna appointed Secretary (West) in MEA
  • »   Senior diplomat Navtej Singh Sarna was today appointed as Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs.
  • »   Sarna, a 1980 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, is working as Special Secretary in the ministry and will succeed Dinkar Khullar, who superannuates on August 31, said an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training.
  • »   Apart from holding the distinction of being the longest- serving spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry, Sarna has served in Indian missions in Moscow, Warsaw, Thimphu, Geneva, Tehran and Washington DC.
  • »   He has also served as Indian Ambassador to Israel.
  • »   Sarna has also authored many books including "The Exile"-- a novel based on the life of Maharaja Duleep Singh, "We Weren't Lovers Like That", a novel, and a non-fiction "The Book of Nanak".

6.    RBI paper mill to save Rs 1,280 crore of imports annually
  • »   The Reserve Bank of India's first Greenfield venture of bank note paper mill at Mysore, in Karnataka, is expected to save Rs 1,280 crore of imports annually.
  • »   Currently, the entire quantity of currency notes needed is printed within the country. However, India produces only five per cent of the paper required for currency notes at its sole paper mill - Hoshangabad Security Paper Mill -and depends on imports for the bulk of the requirement. India is the second-largest country in the world after China in terms of number of notes printed.
  • »   The new paper mill has a production capacity of 12,000 metric tonnes and will cost Rs 1,500 crore to build. It is expected to cut India's import demand by more than half. India, which prints more than 20 billion notes annually, requires about 22,000 metric tonne of bank note paper.
  • »   According to information sourced through a Right to Information request from Bank Note Paper Mill India Pvt Ltd, an RBI subsidiary, there is likely to be a delay of about one year in setting up the mill from the original schedule of April 2014.

  • »   One of the five associate banks of the country's top lender, the State Bank of India (SBI), is set to merge with the parent this fiscal. State Bank of Patiala is the most likely suitor, a top banker has said.
  • »  The government-run State Bank of India has five associates -- State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Hyderabad.
  • »  Out of these five, three of them are listed -- State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Travancore. According to finance ministry officials in, State Bank of Patiala is the first in the queue.

2.    Amazon announces $2 billion investment in India
  • »  The $2 billion investment comes despite the fact that Amazon (global entity) registered heavy losses in its second quarter. Experts have further stated that the losses in the third quarter could be much worse.
  • »  Amazon started its operations in Indian about a year ago and currently has over 17 million products across several categories out of which 300,000 are available for next day delivery.
  • »  In the past few months, Amazon has aggressively promoted its brand in India. It stands as a key challenge to the likes of Flipkart, Snapdeal and other home grown e-commerce companies.

3.  World Bank assures Bandhan of financial support
  • »  The World Bank has assured Bandhan Financial Services of more support, including equity infusion through its investment arm IFC, as and when needed following the microfinance major’s transformation into a full-fledged bank.
  • »   The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, currently holds close to 11% equity stake in the Kolkata-based MFI. Bandhan Financial Services CMD Chandra Shekhar Ghosh said World Bank country director Onno Ruhl has assured him of more financial support whenever the MFI needs it.
  • »   A five-member team of World Bank, led by Ruhl, went on field visits in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on Thursday to witness the activities of Bandhan and explore possibility of financial as well as technical support.

4.  Govt appoints S S Mundra as RBI deputy governor
  • »  The government has appointed S S Mundra, chairman and managing director of Bank of Baroda as the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  • »   Mundra (60), who will assume charge as deputy governor on Thursday, has been given a three-year term.
  • »  Mundra assumed the charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda in January, 2013. Prior to his elevation as Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda, he was the Executive Director of Union Bank of India.
  • » He'll take over as the fourth Deputy Governor of RBI after K C Chakrabarty resigned mid-tenure.

No, There is no percentage criteria in the notification released by IBPS.

I have GPA in my mark sheet how will I convert it to percentage?

You can convert it by clicking this LINK however, you must know if it is accepted by your university or not. If you have confusion, just take the first 2 numbers and that will be your %. For eg. 7.83 = 78%.

Am I eligible for the Pre-Exam Training?

Only if you are a Scheduled Caste/Tribe or OBC. Pre-Exam Training is not available for General Candidates.
You have to fill up Pre-exam training criteria while you are filling up forms.

My result will be out on August 9, can I apply?

Yes, you can. People who are expecting result by 11th of August, 2014 can apply.

I am having error while filling up. What should I do?

Change your browser, if problem persists then clear the Cache of your browser and empty the temp file.

I got 58.69% in my graduation, How to give the marks?

Just put, 58%. No matter you got 60.99% or 89.21% you will only have to take first 2 digits as your percentage.

I filled 58.37% in the marks, will I get rejected?

No. You will not. They will round off your marks. However, it is recommended to give a rounded off number.

I gave a wrong name/address/any other. What to do? Affidavit? 

For a exam which occurs every year, no need to affidavit anything. Just use a new email id and fill up again.

Do I need a Computer Certificate?

In the notification there was no mention of Mandatory Computer Certificate. However, having a certificate adds a bonus boost in the interview.
